Places to Stay While Visiting Alert Bay
There are several accommodation options in Alert Bay, from Hotels, Inns, and cozy B&B’s, to cabins and camping.
Hotels & Inns
Seine Boat Inn
Perched on the edge of tiny Cormorant Island, a jewel of the Broughton Archipelago, the Seine Boat Inn stands proud along the shoreline of the small and vibrant community of Alert Bay.
Centrally located, just steps from the ferry dock, shops and restaurants, the Inn is built directly over the beach and the ocean, providing spectacular views and the unique sensory experience of wind and waves beneath your feet.
Nimpkish Hotel
The Nimpkish Hotel is an historic building in Alert Bay with a colorful past. We are located on the water as our spacious and peaceful deck extends over the shoreline on the Broughton Strait facing the east side of Vancouver Island.
The view from our deck, sunroom and balconies gives our guests a front row seat to what the locals call ‘the movie’ as the panoramic scene is endlessly entertaining. Our 9 luxurious, comfortable rooms are the ideal place for our guests to unplug, unwind and rest. Start your day with a complimentary, fresh continental breakfast.
Alert Bay Lodge
Located on the south shore Cormorant Island, this spacious log building overlooks Johnstone Strait. Pods of orcas are often viewed from the lodge as are boats and ships of all shapes and sizes. The Vancouver Island Mountains provide a stunning backdrop to this natural setting.
Once a church, the building has a relaxed, serene vibe. All rooms are on one level with the 1600 sq. ft. Great Room offering several conversation nooks. Our (almost) world famous hot breakfasts, complete with coffee, tea or hot chocolate are included in the room rate.
The Orca Inn
The Orca Inn was built in the 1930's in what was formerly the "Chinatown" of Alert Bay. Wong Toy had his hardware store here where many older residents remember buying their first shoes! The other building was the Royal Cafe. Both buildings were combined the form the Orca Inn as it now stands.
