Orcas & Humpbacks
A beautiful afternoon on the water. We started the trip off with 2 humpback whales. One of these animals is a resident humpback named Houdini that we have got to know very well over the years and the other one was her new calf as of yet un-named. After they fluked and dove out of sight we continued for a few minutes before having a nice encounter with C pod and some of the A5's. There were about 20 Orcas all together (C6's and C10's, and possibly A25's) and it was a treat to see these particular animals again after their absence from this area for over a year. We noticed a couple young whales with the group that may be new calfs. The conditions were just perfect to hoist the staysail so for most of our time watching them we sailed quietly alongside. Picture perfect.
