Humpbacks & Orcas

Another blustery day in the strait but again not without whales. This morning we set out to see what we could find and came across 2 beautiful Humpback whales. By afternoon both MV Cetacea and SV Tuan were spending time with a third Humpback whale until we found the A30 pod of Orcas coming in from the open water. This is a family of Orcas we have got to know very well over the years so we were very happy to see them again. The youngest daughter of the matriarch has just had her 2nd calf and it was quite nice to see this little animal swimming along in amongst all the others. We followed them along with the flood tide, staysail set on the Tuan and hydrophones deployed on both vessels before making our way home through the islands.
