Sleepy Orcas

After cruising through the islands on a remarkably low tide this morning we made our way out towards Blackfish Sound where we watched the I15 pod and the A30 pod of Orcas sleep. This may sound kind of uneventful but in actual fact is the best way to see the many individuals in each pod and all at the same time. Photographers on board were filling their frames with as many as 15 different animals as they all surfaced and dove together. Some of the whales were also spyhopping and vocalizing before they made their way towards Johnstone Strait. Once in the strait we hoisted the sails and enjoyed a leisurely cruise home enjoying the fantastic scenery and sunny afternoon.
