Whales & Wind

The morning started off with no whales anywhere nearby but by mid-afternoon a large group had come into the area. The sun was shining and wind blowing and whales were spread out in all directions. We had some unexpected close encounters with these amazing animals as they foraged around us while also swimming quickly to the west. We also saw plenty of Dall's Porpoises and everyone aboard had an awesome time bobbing around in the choppy waves that we don't often encounter here. The odd wave would hit the side of SV Tuan and send salt spray into the air giving the unique feeling that only being on the ocean can provide. As we headed home we were parallel to the whales for most of the journey as the strait was full of them all heading the same way as us.
