The magic of Humpback Whales was everywhere and the Common Murres were just as wonderful, one so large, the other so small and both species feeding off herring along with other species while we watched!

What an incredible afternoon we spent viewing humpback whales. The I15's were nearing the Robson Bight Ecological Reserve when we headed out on our tour this afternoon and with sightings of two humpback whales feeding in amongst numerous gulls and diving birds near Weynton Passage we stopped to enjoy them and lingered because the viewing was so wonderful! We carried on down to Blackney Passage where five more humpback whales were feeding, it was amazing and so fascinating watching them going around and around in the flooding current and then lunging through a herring ball, two whales at a time! Guardian was once again in amongst the feeding frenzy of the whales that we were witness to and while we are still unable to download our photo's, at some point we expect to. Without photo's to show, we have to say that the viewing was spectacular and that the sounds of the whales exhalations punctuating all around us was unbelievable and spellbinding, our conclusion: humpback whales never disappoint, it was magic! Also seen: dall's porpoises, harbour seals, stellar sea lions (swimming and hauled out), bald eagles, rhinoceros auklets, great blue herons, surf scoters, two western grebes, pelagic cormorants and gull species.
