Fantastic viewing of 5 Humpback whales!
Our sightings today: Five Humpback whales, Dall's porpoises++ and one Harbour porpoise swimming amongst some of the Dall's, Harbour seals, Rhinoceros Auklets, 16 Canada Geese in flight, Bald Eagles++, Belted Kingfishers and a Great Blue Heron. The weather was unbelievable, warm and sunny and the sea calm and very blue! The many islands we passed by caught our attention from the beginning and the narrow passages we cruised through gifted us with a colourful underwater wonderland. The viewing of five Humpback whales was remarkable. Drifting in the current with our engines off, we were content to sit observing them from a distance while listening to their blows and other sounds from near and far including land and seabirds! The highlight today was our close encounter with a Humpback whale as we neared Weynton Passage on the way home. We were drifting in the current waiting for it to pass on its deep dive and were very surprised and excited when it suddenly surfaced nearby the boat and continued on its way. Breathtaking and beautiful, it was a grand finale to a fabulous tour!
