Orcas, Humpback whales and so much more!
Our sightings today: Resident orcas, Humpback whales, Dall's porpoises, Harbour seals, Stellar sea lions, Rhinoceros Auklets, Cassin's Auklets, Bald Eagles, Red-necked Phalaropes+, Black Oyster Catchers and Belted Kingfishers. How beautiful was the day and sightings on both of our tours. This morning we enjoyed some wonderful viewing of three Humpback whales: Inukshuk, Hook and Ripple. We observed some breaching from a distance and had an exciting visit with Hook who was back in the area today. Hook was last seen in the area in 2008 so this was exciting news indeed! The afternoon tour was also exciting and we enjoyed seeing the Humpback whale (Argonaut) prior to seeing orcas. We were nearby when it was reported that Orcas were headed east and we encountered them travelling in Blackfish Sound. It was incredible seeing them and very exciting for our guests onboard and for ourselves as well as it was our first sighting of Resident Orcas into the area this summer! With so much to see on both tours everyone left the boat happy and wearing big smiles!
