Nature's Magic at its Finest Hour

It was an exciting day to be on the water and our passengers on both tours were delighted to see orcas and humpback whales.

Our day, beginning with an overcast sky and fog in areas, it ended with sunshine and choppy waters that added greatly to the excitement felt by some of our younger passengers onboard!

We observed orcas (A50’s) spread out and foraging back and forth at Bold Head, where numerous salmon could also be seen jumping clear of the water everywhere we looked. They were foraging steadily and remained at the same location feeding for both tours. The Humpback whale viewing was also amazing and we observed a breach from a distance away on one of our tours. Because of the wind and choppy waters the viewing visibility of birds on the water was not so easy and yet the Bald eagles did not disappoint us. From their lofty boughs on tree tops high, we spied them and their nests so large where everyone could clearly see just how huge a nest could be.

On our way home during our afternoon tour, we watched intrigued, an eagle swoop and grasp a salmon in its talons, only to have it stolen by another eagle when it landed on a rocky outcrop to feast. What a day of contrast and colour, natures magic at it finest hour!
