Another Day In Paradise
What better way to spend the day than to be on the water where a light breeze was blowing, and where Orcas and Humpback whales appeared to be everywhere that we looked at the bottom end of Blackfish Sound.
We initially found the orcas travelling slowly to the east midway in Blackfish Sound and while we were observing them, our attention was taken when we heard, and some of us saw, a Humpback Whale breaching in the distance near the Parson Island light.
There was quite a congregation of Cetaceans in the area all at once and they kept us looking in all directions. The A-Clan orcas: A23's, A25's and A30's were in close proximity to each other between Orcalab and Blakney Passage and we so enjoyed viewing them along with three Humpback whales, several Pacific White-sided dolphins and Dall's porpoises, all of them were in the mix together and feeding.
It was such a beautiful day and we so enjoyed travelling back through numerous Island waterways where tranquil waters flowed at a peaceful pace. The scenery was stunning and today, thanks to the sun shining bright, everything seemed to sparkle. There were massive bull kelp forests stretching outwards, lush green forested islands and on rocky island outcrops, Stellar Sea Lions, Harbour Seals, Bald Eagles and Oystercatchers looked out at us as we slowly made our way past them. On days like these we so appreciate the opportunity of seeing and doing what we love to do.
