Breaching Humpback & Orcas

A foggy morning made for intruiging scenery while the SV Tuan cruised down the strait towards clearer sunny skies and Orcas. Once near Robson Bight where the Orcas were socializing and rubbing on the beaches we hoisted the sails and dropped the hydrophone. The vocals of the 4 family's of Orcas, over 20 animals altogether was amazing. This afternoon's motor cruise aboard MV Cetacea also had the chance to hear amazing vocals on their hydropone. Not only that but they had great viewing of the Orcas and prime viewing of a breaching humpback whale! Other marine life seen today was Dall's porpoises, harbor seals, bald eagles, red-necked phalaropes, common murres, marbled murrelets, rhinoceros auklets, great blue herons, and kingfishers.
