Orcas
Another beautiful day! Our morning began with 5 families of Orcas in the flat calm waters of Queen Charlotte Strait. They were all resting quietly and sometimes laying on the surface absorbing the warmth of the sunlight into their bodies. Each family was seperated from each other by some distance and between seeing the groups individually we could look out into the distance and see dorsal fins scattered here and there in the open water. By afternoon all the whales were still moving slowly to the east but were very social and playful. They had got together in one big group and were rolling over each other, spyhopping, tail lobbing, and generally just goofing off. SV Tuan and MV Cetacea had a wonderful time observing these amazing animals acting so seemingly carefree.
