Superpod of Orcas and Humpbacks
Wow! This morning we meandered our way through some narrow channels and once near the open water of the sound were greated with about 25 Orcas, 8 of which passed right by us to go through the narrow channel we had just come through meeting the others on the other side. The vocals echoing off both sides of the channel as they went through were amazingly loud. These animals continued on and we made our way back through the narrow channels to see another group of atleast 70 whales that were approaching from the west. While we hoisted the main sail 2 Humpback whales popped up between us and the large group of Orcas making our trip complete. This afternoon all the Orcas had come in to Johnstone Strait and we were able to see them spread out for as far as the eye could see. We also saw a Leach's Storm Petrel today and a flock of migrating Teals.
