The sky threatened rain as we set out from Alert Bay this morning, but the dull sky gradually cleared into a glorious blue clear afternoon. We hadn't gone far before coming across Houdini, a local humpback, and her calf. The calf, barely 7 months old, put on a great display leaping out of the water before crashing back with an almighty splash. Later we sighted several magnificent resident orca (from the matriline A12) , we tracked them for a while as they foraged for salmon. After admiring the incredible B.C. scenery whilst cruising around various islands we struck orca gold again - the three brothers from the matriline A36! We watched whilst these formidable animals glided back and forth feeding on the salmon returning to spawn. This capped a memorable tour for both the SV Tuan and MV Cetacea
