Today was one of the most beautiful days of the season with glorious sunshine present throughout our tour and so it was that we headed out this morning on glassy calm waters with a spectacular viewscape to gaze out upon. Some splashing far off in the distance towards the mainland inlets caught our curiosity and we headed in that direction, never absolutely sure if the splashing were dolphins as we hoped for but as we neared the area we were rewarded with the sighting of some 200-300 Pacific White-sided Dolphins who were feeding intently near the surface of the water with often only their fins being visible. Some could be seen leaping clear out of the water with some swimming alongside and at the bow of the boat as we cruised along slowly making our departure from them. It was wonderful watching as they cruised along with the water sparkling and the backdrop of the White Cliff Islets looking so picturesque in the sunlight. A Minke Whale was sighted on our way home feeding in Weynton Passage along with numerous Stellar Sea Lions. Other sightings today included: Dall’s Porpoises, Rhinoceros Auklets, Pigeon Guillemots, Common Murres, 1 Fork-tailed Storm Petrel, Red-necked Phalaropes, Bald Eagles, Mew and Herring Gulls.
