Canada Day ~ celebrated in style in the presence of majestic humpback whales!
What can one say ~ it was another day of bliss on the bountiful ocean that gives to us all so much wonder and joy! The wind had lessened considerably from yesterday but it still enabled us to hoist our main sail and enjoy favourable sea conditions all in close proximity to at least three gracious humpback whales. We especially enjoyed our time with 'Guardian' whose unique dorsal fin makes id'ing so easy and whose white flukes on the underside are clearly visible and distinctive to watch when taking a deep dive. The whales were all spread out feeding in wide circles back and forth and as the flooding current strengthened, viewing them off Blackney Passage, we, along with them, were soon swirling along in the fast flowing water, it was fantastic and energizing for all of us! Also seen today: dall's porpoise, one black-tailed deer, harbour seals, black oyster catchers, rhinoceros auklets, common murres, marbled murrelets, bald eagles and gull species. * Biggs Transient Orcas were reported being off Blackney Passage around 3.00 p.m. this afternoon by Orcalab. They were identified later by Jared Towers (DFO) as being T170, T172 & T117A
** We are still experiencing problems with our zoom lens and are waiting for a speedy return of the lens.

Thank you for a great adventure. This is our 6th time with you and we will never sail with anyone else. This year we brought our grand daughter (8 years old) and she thought it was amazing to see 'all the wildlife' and that Dave and Maureen were awesome! The Mayer Family ~ Alberta
