The feeding frenzy continues!

Sightings: Humpback whales++, Dall's porpoises, Harbour seals, Stellar sea lions, 2 Black-tailed deer, Bald Eagles and one Eaglet in a nest, Belted Kingfishers, Red-necked Phalaropes, Rhinoceros Auklets, Cassin's Auklets, Common Murres, Black Turnstones, Black Oyster Catchers and Gull species. It was an amazing day with so much to see on each of our tours. The day belonged to the Humpback whales for there were several in the area and those included sightings of Black Pearl, Argonaut, Conger, Ripple and Guardian. It is always a joy to see Guardian with her full white fluke as depicted on one of the photo's making her easily recognizable. There was excellent viewing of both trap and lunge feeding on the morning tour while the afternoon and early evening tours had equally exciting viewing of humpback whales feeding on herring balls with sea birds galore in the mix of the feeding frenzy! It was a truly remarkable day made so by increasing quantities of food arriving into the area in the form of small schooling fish enabling a myriad of big and small species to all feed upon!IMG_3757adj Lunge Feeding 16x9sz2IMG_3758 lunge feeding 16x9cr 2IMG_3780adj trap feeding 16x9sz2IMG_3876adj 2 humpbacks 16x9sz2IMG_4062adjsz2IMG_4184adjlitcrsz2trap feeding #1adjszcr1 series dive sz3DSC09923crIMG_3543adjsz2IMG_3609adjsz3IMG_3619 flukecr sendsz2IMG_3696adjcrsend fluke
