Orcas, Humpback whales, Porpoises and more!

A gloriously sunny, warm and calm day was accompanied by sightings of Orca, Humpback whales, Porpoises and more!

As we cruised beside a group of islands well known for seeing Bald Eagles, we were astonished to see not a single Eagle but instead hundred’s of crows. It was as though the Eagles were evicted by the crows. Oh, the curious ways of nature!

We travelled east in Johnstone Strait to meet up with a group of Orcas who were all spread out and westing, one shore across to the other. New families were encountered today including the A4’s, I15’s and I31’s which meant that over twenty whales were in the area.

We saw the two species of porpoise, the Dall’s and Harbour as well as a sighting of a Humpback whale who foraged close to the shore. The rushing flood current through Weynton Passage stirred up the ocean and turned it into a raging river which astonished our guests.

As late afternoon descended upon us, the prevailing summer Northwest winds started to stir, rippling the once calm sees we travelled on.

It was a stunning tour filled with magic and wonder.
