A Whale of a Day - July 18th

It was a whale of a day today as both tours that went out came back with stories of Orca and Humpback sightings galore.

During the morning tour, a family of Orcas consisting of at least seven were seen mingling and playing together. Two of them breached, and it was fantastic to see the two stunning black and white bodies leap clear out of the water. Tail slaps were witnessed as well as a spy hop which is when they bring their head out of the water to take a look around from that perspective.

Humpbacks were also in the area, and it added to the delights of the day to see their large bodies breaking the surface of the water like submarines. They are almost twice the length of Orcas, and their blow is double in height as they come up to breathe.

Dall's porpoises, Harbour seals, Sea lions and Bald Eagles were also observed by our guests who appreciated the array of wildlife amongst the picturesque islands and passageways.
