Wildlife Extravaganza

Today was absolutely awesome. Our guests came back with the best describing words after their tour: breathtaking, mesmerizing, amazing, stunning, out of this world and "I didn't know which way to look, there were whales everywhere".

The Humpbacks were generous with their company today with one surprising us as it surfaced quite close to the boat. We were sitting in silence, our engines turned off, watching a whale in the distance and during a deep dive and without us knowing, the whale turned and headed in our direction and surfaced, giving us all a startle.

The two families of Orca - A42 pod and A30 pod were also in the vicinity and once these two groups were bridging the gap between them, their vocals rose to another level. Loud, excitable chatter could be heard from the speaker which was attached to our underwater microphone that listened in to the stunning sounds of the Orca.

We had a neat encounter with a group of Stellar Sea lions this afternoon. They seemed to be socializing, playing and interacting with eachother. Amongst the kelp forests, two tanned coloured heads were attached as though embraced in a kiss.

The Bald Eagle activity today was a marvel. Adult Eagles were seen perched on low lying islets, standing so still and stern allowing us the privilege to take a photo.

It is days like this that we can't imagine living anywhere else in the world, and the joy we receive when guest come back feeling inspired and awed by our very own backyard.
