Smoke on the Water
It was a strange day out on the water with limited visibility due to not fog but instead smoke. On Northern Vancouver Island numerous fires have spread causing smoke to fill the atmosphere creating a faint orange tinge to the air and turning our sun a copper colour.
Due to the limited visibility our tour was slow and steady which gave us time to listen for wildlife. It was eerie out on the water and around every corner there was a surprise sighting of an animal we just happened upon.
Our guests were astonished that we were able to find the whales in these conditions. A Humpback whale fluke appeared out of nowhere and disappeared as it descended down deep. A family of Orcas traveled through an area we were exploring giving our guests a fabulous experience seeing such stunning creatures in the wild. Pacific White-sided dolphins swam close amongst the Orca, giving an impression of a pesky younger brother.
Eagles looked like stern statue's poised in tall cedars and innocent seals draped over rocks lazed in the peaceful afternoon.
Strange but stunning, eerie but beautiful, the day brought many surprises.
Please note that due to the fires, there may be a power outage. If you don't see updated blogs you will know that this is the reason. Thanks for your patience and understanding.
