Many Happy Travellers!
Today, our skipper took out a morning and an afternoon tour on the MV Seasmoke. The morning tour began with somewhat misty skies and some fog hovering over the flat, calm water, that gradually cleared - revealing patches of pale blue skies under a light cloud cover. Our guests had an exceptional time on the water, with all the wildlife we have come to love and know, present in these spectacular pristine waters.
The Northern Resident Orca were sighted at the top of Hanson Island, identified as the I15s, and another group swam and fed at the Sophia Islands. What a treat for guests, who are always thrilled to see them. On the afternoon trip, the sun came out and many more Orca were spotted at Cracroft Point - the A35 that were seen in the morning, the I4, I27 and I65. One of the ‘black and whites’ jumped straight out of the water!
Other ‘black and whites’ were the Dall’s porpoises, that the skipper reported were everywhere the tour boat went, both morning and afternoon. Again at Cracroft Point, two Humpbacks were seen foraging for food. In this same area were lots of birds, in the vicinity of a huge bait ball made up of small fish. A Stellar sea lion was seen in the Plumper Islands, and altogether, both morning and afternoon trips were excellent in terms of the wildlife viewing experience for everyone on board.
Guests’ high level of enthusiasm is always truly appreciated, and it is wonderful to see how happy everyone feels just to be out on the water, in the midst of nature’s wonders.
